Production / Treatment

At our site in Dormagen, we operate one of Europe's largest waste glass treatment plants, processing  hollow and flat glass at a technical capacity of 350.000 tons per year and a processing capacity of 64 t/h. Contaminated waste glass is turned into a valuable secondary raw material in a technically demanding and complex process, using a multi-stage treatment. Our products are subsequently used by glass factories as an important component in producing new glass. In the course of the treatment, the glass is freed in multiple stages from nearly all components that could possibly be interfering with the melting process in the glass factory. For this to be achieved, state-of-the-art treatment machines are integrated, in addition to our manual sorters who are still irreplaceable today. Ceramics, stone and porcelain (known to experts as CSP) are separated by these opto-electronic devices, as is lead-containing and heat-resistant glass. Magnets and eddy current separators  used to select ferrous and non-ferrous metals supplement the sorting process. Eventually, the material stream that has been freed from any undesirable substances as far as possible is split up by colors and finally undergoes strict quality control. The current critical values of a maximum of 20 g/t CSP, 3 g/t ferrous metals and 2 g/t non-ferrous metals emphasize the high requirements made by costumers to the secondary raw material processed glass. By the way, a little reminder: 1 ton equals 1.000.000 grams. For further more detailed information click: here
